Happy Tails, Sacramento's first no-kill pet sanctuary, was founded in 1993 by volunteers committed to a common goal: To create a safe haven for abandoned and abused animals.
What started out as six like-minded people in 1993, has grown to an all-volunteer organization with over 200 volunteers by June 2006. Our volunteers worked hard to open our Adopt-A-Pet Center Sacramento's first cage-free adoption center. We continue to work towards obtaining and operating a larger facility to serve as a true pet sanctuary.
Animal Friends Rescue Project
Animal Friends Rescue Project (AFRP) is a nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Pacific Grove, California. We were founded in June 1998 by four individuals who were passionate about making a difference to companion animal overpopulation. We are dedicated to finding good permanent homes for abandoned, stray, and abused companion animals and ending the pet overpopulation crisis through focused spay/neuter programs.
Your donation of a used car, truck or RV to Animal Friends Rescue Project helps us rescue more homeless animals. We will arrange to transfer the title, have the car picked up, and will send you an acknowledgment of the donation for your records. Your vehicle will then be auctioned off by the Car Program LLC to raise money to help animals.

AnimalSave exists to end the needless killing of adoptable/ treatable companion animals and to ensure their humane treatment by rescuing, fostering, and placing homeless animals, encouraging spay/neuter, bringing animals and people together to enrich each others' lives; and promoting the concept that every companion animal deserves respect, as well as a loving home.
AnimalSave envisions a better future where animals will be respected for their unique role in making the world a better place, where there is a stable, loving home for every adoptable/treatable companion animal to complete its natural lifespan, and where people will embrace and understand the value of spay/neuter, humane treatment and responsible pet guardianship. We believe education is an important step.
Use AnimalSave's Car Donation program to get rid of your vehicle and, at the same time, help local animals.
Gentle Touch Animal Sanctuary
Gentle Touch is a family owned organization. We are a non-profit 501 C animal rescue organization. Our mission is to end the abuse, neglect and abandonment of animals. We are dedicated to saving as many homeless animals as we can. One day at a time, one animal at a time.
The animals are placed into an environment where they can be socialized with people and other animals. They are given vet exams, vaccinations, medical care if needed, microchips, and are spayed or neutered. Then we try to place them in the perfect forever home.
A large majority of the animals we rescue come from situations that are unhealthy or neglectful. We also receive many abandoned or homeless animals. These animals many times come with various health issues. The financial obligation for treating and caring for these animals is at times very trying. We receive no grants or funding at this time and rely on the generosity of the public for donations. We charge an adoption fee to help cover some of the veterinary costs of each animal.
Ferrets Unlimited Ferrets Shelter
Through the doors of our shelter, and many like ours both ferret and non ferret pass a variety of animals and personalities. Some loved, some abused, some from homes where the former owner had no clue on care but purchased the animal on impulse, just to find they cannot deal with the training. We are dedicated to finding loving, caring homes for every ferret.
All ferrets are spayed or neutered BEFORE adoption.
We turn no ferret away, no matter the health, age, or lack of training. Medical needs are met, and manners are taught. There are times when we are full and have a waiting list to be turned in. There is NEVER a list for adoption.
Here at Ferrets Unlimited, we believe that educating the potential pet owner is one of the most crucial things a shelter can do. This applies to both ferret shelters and other animal shelters. An educated pet owner can provide a safer, happier, and healthier environment for their pet, thus making both the pet and themselves a good match.
