Charities that benefit children

This section contains a list of charities you can donate cars to who will use that donation to help children. Since kids don't drive cars generally the vehicles are sold and the proceeds used to help fund the charity.

Polly Klaas Foundation
Polly Klaas Foundation
The Polly Klaas® Foundation is a national nonprofit that helps find missing children, prevents children from going missing in the first place, and works with policymakers to pass laws like Amber Alert that help protect kids.

We provide around the clock assistance to families with missing children, counseling them on ways to find their children and work with law enforcement. We make and distribute posters of missing children for these families, and have a national eVolunteer force that distributes posters of missing children in their communities. We publish and distribute child safety information to people around the world, our free Child Safety Kit and our free Internet Safety Kit can be ordered or downloaded online. We also promote child safety legislation like Amber Alerts.

Our compassion, experience, and professionalism have helped more than 6,500 families find missing children. We know how to work with law enforcement, the media and the community to give families critical support in their time of greatest need and the best chance of finding their missing children.

Thank you for your interest in donating a vehicle to the Polly Klaas Foundation©. When you donate your vehicle, you help find missing children, prevent children from going missing in the first place, and support legislation to make America safe for children. And you also benefit in the following ways when you donate a vehicle to the Polly Klaas Foundation:

Receive your lawful IRS tax deduction

Avoid confusing Department of Motor Vehicles paperwork or smog hassles

Get free vehicle pick-up whether your donated car is running or not (restrictions apply)

Avoid all the headaches of selling a used car; no expensive want ads, no taking phone calls, no showing the car repeatedly, no price haggling.

Project Impact
Project Impact
Providing youth and their families the tools to help them survive and thrive in a hostile environment through five core services; Juvenile Diversion Counseling; School Drop-out Prevention; Job Training; Parent Education; and Mentor Follow-up.

Project IMPACT USA's vision is to implement a national model of reconciliation that reduces youth violence by creating over 500 new IMPACT Centers in our most "at-risk" communities across the United States.

Do you have a vehicle - especially a window van that is in good working condition that you no longer need or any property that you would like to leave to a charity? Contact Mrs.Willie Cartwright by E-mail or call Toll Free: (888) 242-2778 at Project IMPACT USA to discuss your donation.

Project Mexico
Project Mexico
Since 1988, Project Mexico has been involving young people in the alleviation of suffering by building homes for Mexico's poor. In 1996 our outreach expanded through the opening of St. Innocent Orthodox Orphanage in Tijuana which provides a home for teenage boys who live on the streets or who have been put out of other orphanages and would otherwise be left to fend for themselves. In operation only six years, it was named one of the top three institutions in the state for 2001. St. Innocent Orphanage is the only facility dedicated to teenage boys in Tijuana and one of only four in the entire country of Mexico.

This charitable outreach is unique because our very own people do the work. In the process, their lives are changed. This proven, powerful vehicle of change has provided a fertile environment for thousands of youth to grow in Christ and give of themselves by doing works of mercy for a needy world. Volunteers from 43 of 50 states and eleven foreign countries have participated. Additionally, we hope to continue strengthening the ties between the people of the U.S. and Mexico and be an example of how we can help each other when we work together.

Thank you for thinking of us and the children and families whom we help. Our program relies on the generosity of individuals. When you donate, you allow us to provide hope to more families without homes and more children without families. Vehicle donations are turned into funds to build more homes for families and take more boys off the streets. The average non-profit has administrative costs from 20% - 50%. Our administrative costs for last year were 17%. This means that eighty-three cents of every dollar goes directly to programs and services.

Donating your vehicle also gives you a great tax break and frees you of the hassle of selling a car - advertisements, strangers visiting your home, phone calls, haggling, etc.

San Francisco Boys Chorus
San Francisco Boys Chorus
The San Francisco Boys Chorus exists to discover, develop and encourage boys with unchanged voices through its music programs. Its heritage of more than fifty years of training young performers for the opera and other major musical institutions has established the highest standards of excellence with which our boys are trained for today and prepared for tomorrow.

We believe that the lives of all people are enriched and strengthened by a love of music. The quality of life in our communities is enhanced when there is a wide variety of opportunities for participation in musical activities and other artistic pursuits. Beyond its deep commitment to quality music education, the Chorus experience builds a boy’s character as well as his talent. All of our programs reflect an instructional approach designed to nurture self-esteem, leadership, independence, discipline, and responsibility, as well as a life-long love of music.

Support San Francisco's "Singing Ambassadors to the World" through your car donations.
