The Arc of Northern Virginia
The Arc of Northern Virginia
From The Arc's roots as a group of concerned parents 50 years ago, we have spawned a national movement that has led to services where there were none, legal protections recognizing our human rights, and feelings of pride and dignity instead of shame. Clearly, our struggle is ongoing, but we have come a long way. The Arc of Northern Virginia, an affiliate of the national organization, The Arc, was founded in May of 1962.

If you are interested in donating a car simply call The Arc at 703-532-3214 and we will arrange pick-up of your car and you will get a receipt when it is sold.

Nationwide, as many as 54 million Americans have a disability. Maybe your neighbor has an injury resulting from a motor vehicle accident, or your coworker has a child with cerebral palsy. Your grandmother may be recovering from stroke -- or maybe you are one of every five Americans with a disability. Look around you, and you'll find people of all abilities who are vital participants in their communities despite the barriers they may encounter. The barriers, physical or otherwise, people with disabilities face begin with people's attitudes -- attitudes often rooted in misinformation and misunderstanding. Easter Seals provides answers to help everyone create solutions that change lives... maybe even their own.

Lekotek of Georgia
Lekotek of Georgia
Children with disabilities struggle to interact with family members and participate in school and community activities. That's why we're here. Lekotek facilitates successful inclusion in all aspects of life.

The word "Lekotek" comes from the Swedish work "lek," meaning play, and the Greek suffix "tek" meaning library. Loosely translated, Lekotek means play library, but to the hundreds of families we help, it is much more. Using adapted toys and computer equipment, Lekotek provides opportunities for children to have fun and learn along the way. It is a safe haven from medical appointments and therapies. It is a place where there are no expectations to perform, a place where parents find resources and support.

Car, Truck, Boat, and RV Donations
If you have an old car, truck, boat, or RV that you'd like to unload, let DonateACar.com do the work. You receive a charitable tax deduction and Lekotek benefits in the form of cash from the sale.

LIFE Elder Care Inc.
LIFE Elder Care Inc.
Virginia Carlson of Fremont began LIFE ElderCare in 1975 as a nutritional program with delivery to Fremont's frail, homebound seniors. Meals were prepared and packaged at a local school kitchen and delivered by a group of volunteers. That first year of service, some 300 meals were provided and today, Meals on Wheels at LIFE ElderCare provides over 350 meals per day to frail, homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities living in Fremont, Newark and Union City.

Support LIFE ElderCare by donating your vehicle. Cars, boats, trucks and vans are all welcome, working or not. Let us deal with the paperwork and vehicle removal while you receive the tax benefit!
