The Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliaries are veterans helping veterans, but the VFW members also mentor youth groups, help in community food kitchens, volunteer in blood drives and visit hospitalized veterans. VFW members also help veterans file compensation claims or are "voicing their vote" with elected officials. The VFW Foundation, separate from the VFW itself, is a 501©(3) not-for-profit organization that relies on public donations to support programs that promote citizenship education and volunteerism and facilitate aid for veterans and their families in need of medical, rehabilitative, educational and employment services. Visit your local chapter of the VFW to find out whether it accepts vehicle donations to further its goals.
